Rockstar has announced today that Grand Theft Auto V will have both a Special and a Collectors edition along with a standard retail version.

For those who pre-order, including standard, special and collectors editions, will recieve the ability to fly the Atomic Blimp. Atomic is a tire company in the game and has products available in any Los Santos Customs garage. No word yet if you'll only be able to fly a blimp if you don't pre-order or if it's just for this specially branded one.

Special Edition ($79.99)

The Special Edition of Grand Theft Auto V includes:

• Collectible SteelBook with Exclusive Artwork
  This special SteelBook features double-sided, never-before-seen artwork of Michael, Trevor and Franklin. Custom color and metallic treatments bring out the detail of the artwork created exclusively for this SteelBook.  
• Blueprint Map
  This exclusive, additional 21.5” x 26.75” map displays a blueprint view of Los Santos and Blaine County. Cryptic markings indicate locations for fast cash and other points of interest for the up-and-coming entrepreneur.  
• Special Ability Boost
  Michael, Franklin and Trevor each have a unique special ability. With this boost, the special ability bar will generate 25% faster.
• Stunt Plane Trials

Included in the previews of the editions above are glimpses of the map. A GTAF user by the name of xXTHRUSTYXx has taken the liberty of piecing them together.

EDIT: It seems that although Steam will let you walk through the download screens on OSX, it fails to actually download the game (resulting in the error below). This is likely because the actual game files are still marked as part of a private beta on Steam's backend. Still, this shows that Rockstar is nearing the release stage and we should hear something officially very shortly.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: A few months ago we announced that Rockstar was silently working on a Mac OSX port of Max Payne 3 using the Cider emulation layer. In the same vein that Rockstar worked on it, Rockstar has silently released the port on Steam just a few hours ago. It is a SteamPlay title, meaning that if you already own the Windows version, you can download Max on your Mac at no extra cost.

As of yet Rockstar has yet to even officially acknowledge the port so we're not sure if the port will be making its way to other services such as the Mac App Store. We'll update you when we have more information.

Four more pieces of eye candy Grand Theft Auto V screenshots have been released.

Rockstar has posted a batch of 12 new Grand Theft Auto V screenshots for your enjoyment.

Rockstar has updated the official Grand Theft Auto V website with both the screenshots we seen as part of the previews, and four new ones. We've taken the liberty of embedding the four new ones below. (To clarify: of the 24 screenshots Rockstar released today, only 4 of them had not already been released with the previews. Since we've already covered the 20 screenshots in two previous news stories, we didn't feel the need to again report on the 20 screenshots and decided to focus on the four new ones.)

A number of publications have just published brand new previews for Grand Theft Auto V. So far we've spotted previews from CVG, OPM UK, Kotaku, EDGE, Destructoid, USA Today, Video Gamer and IGN. As always, we're working to bring you an overview of the new information and screenshots in the previews so please stay tuned.

• Mechanics
  • The heath, body armor and specials meters are in a corner (which corner isn't said)
  • Special abilities - Each protagonist has a special ability that recharges over time
    • Franklin has the ability to slow down time while driving
    • Trevor has a frenzy mode where he'll do double damage
    • Michael is Max Payne with his own Bullet-Time
  • Skills (stamina, strength, stealth, flying etc) from San Andreas make a return, however the only confirmed way to increase them are through missions
  • The character selector is divided into four triangles
  • You enter multiplayer through the character selector
